All we know: the 2027 M3

BMW is currently developing the all new 3 series and M3, of which some of the tech was revealed with the Heart of Joy : vision driving experience concept. The car includes many aspects inspired by the ” Neue Klasse” concept that debut in 2023, including the return of a slim grill , Neue Klasse style.

The concept car has wide fender and large front and rear bumpers resulting in a more muscular overall look. Most surprising of all, the concept has 1300 horsepower!

Electric M3

The electric M3 has already been spied and confirmed, a chunky four door performance saloon with larger brakes and much slimmer kidney grill that wraps around the headlights. The concept car has four electric motors and 1300 horsepower, however we estimate that the power would most likely be less, and somewhere around 700 horsepower. It may seem like a downgrade, but it has more than enough to outperform its competitors, the Tesla model 3 Performance, which has 510 horsepower and the Polestar 2 with 476 horsepower.

The electric M3 is to be based on the i3 platform, as BMW is developing an exclusively electric platform as well as an ICE framework. The car in the spy photos is shown to have a short hood compared to the ICE version, which needs to accommodate a 3 litre inline 6. This car is most likely to contain the “heart of joy” computing unit, as well as many future electric BMW models.

Combustion engine M3

The 2027 M3 petrol M3 will have a straight – engine, the S58 that resides in the current M3. This new model will also get a power bump, from 473 on the base model and 523 on the competition to around 550 on the base and even up to 650 on the competition and special editions, due to the insane potential of the S58 engine.

the new M3 will probably take most of it’s body from the spied M340i including its quad tailpipes and long hood. It will have some M – specific features, such as larger brakes and more aggressive styling.

Overall the new BMW M3 is a car to wait for, staying true to itself keeping now rare large internal combustion engines in a world dominated by 3 and 4 cylinder hybrids. Btw promises that this car will “set new standards”
